Question:

Has your paver surface previously been sealed?  If yes, was the sealer water or solvent based? 

If you do not know the answer, there is a simple way to determine which one is currently applied:

Find an area where the most sealer remains (try a corner) - apply a quarter sized amount of XYLENE on the area and let sit for approx. 15 seconds - wipe off the excess - wait a few seconds then touch the surface.

If it is TACKY you have solvent based sealer, if it is NOT you have water based sealer.

Solvent Based Paver Sealer can be applied over pavers which have not been previously sealed or have been sealed with SOLVENT BASED SEALER only

Water Based Paver Sealer can be applied over pavers which have not been previously sealed or have been sealed with SOLVENT OR WATER BASED SEALER  -
